The present invention relates to an electrolyte for electrochemical machining of γ-γ'' nickel-based superalloy comprising: - NaNO3 in a content of 10 to 30% by weight relative to the total weight of the electrolyte; - a complexing agent selected from sulfosalicylic acid with a pH of 3 to 10 and nitrilotriacetic acid with a pH of 7 to 14, the complexing agent being present in a content of 1 to 5% by weight relative to the total weight of the electrolyte; - optionally, an anionic surfactant in a content of 1 to 5% by weight relative to the total weight of the electrolyte; - optionally, NaOH in order to obtain the desired pH; - an aqueous solvent. The invention also relates to the use of this electrolyte and to a method for electrochemical machining of γ-γ'' nickel-based superalloy as well as to a method for precision electrochemical machining of γ-γ'' nickel-based superalloy using this electrolyte.
