Time-domain optical coherence tomography systems that use modulation schemes multiplex the scan range of the delay line into different spectral bands. Such a modulation scheme reduces power consumption compared to a single delay line element because the same modulation pattern is used in several channels. For example, the optical coherence tomography system may include multiple stages having group delay elements. Individual group delay results in scanning of samples at individual electrical frequencies in different axial scan depth ranges.
