Provided is an authentication server, with which it is possible to perform authentication via biometric information with greater reliability. This authentication server comprises a user registration unit, a service registration unit, and a storage unit. The user registration unit acquires a first ID that uniquely defines a user in the system and first biometric information used for the authentication of the user. The service registration unit processes a service registration request transmitted from a service provider of the service which the user desires to use, said service registration request including the first ID and a second ID that identifies the service provider. The service registration unit generates a third ID that is uniquely determined by a combination of the user and the service provider and an encryption key and transmits the third ID and the encryption key to the service provider. The storage unit stores, in association, the first biometric information, the first ID, the second ID, the third ID and personal information encrypted by the encryption key.
