In order to initiate a successful APC project in an existing process engineering plant, an appropriate problem specification must be defined. The specification shall include an objective, the selection of input and output variables and the type of APC application. Multi-dimensional controllers (e.g. model-based predictive controllers, or stationary workpoint optimization (e.g. Universal data-driven optimization, UDO) are eligible.;The invention automates the specification of the APC solution to create the conditions for subsequent implementation of the APC solution.
