PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for estimating an operating risk associated with one or more failures in at least one unit of a process plant. There is a continuous flow of operational data for some variables such as temperature and pressure. Detection is defined for the permissible / unacceptable range of parameters and the operating load of the unit over a finite period of time. In many cases, these predetermined parameters must be within the specified range based on the operating conditions of the process plant, and failure is detected when the measured parameters exceed the range. The risk priority number is estimated from the number of failure modes occurring, the average rate of change from dynamic limits with severity, and the degree of correlation with operational data and detectability from dynamic limits.
