PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for separating driving emotions from media-induced emotions in a driver monitoring system. One or more embodiments include a sentiment analysis system that calculates and analyzes a user's emotional state. The sentiment analysis system acquires sensor data associated with the user via at least one sensor. The sentiment analysis system determines the emotional state associated with the user based on the sensor data. The sentiment analysis system determines the first component of the emotional state that corresponds to the media content the user is accessing.
