Multitype tree depth extensions for picture boundary processing

The present disclosure provides an apparatus and method for splitting an image into an encoding unit.The image is divided into hierarchically partitioned coded tree units (CTU).Hierarchical segmentation involves multitype segmentation, such as partitioning of binary trees or quadtree.Each multi type depth is selected for the CTU in the image and the CTU on the boundary.The present disclosure provides the flexibility of multi type segmentation at the boundary portion of an image.
