An apparatus for estimating a corrosion increase rate of a pipeline may determine a first distance from an origin point to a corrosion point of the pipeline; determine a second distance from the corrosion point to a first point of a failure curve of the pipeline, along a straight line that passes through the origin point, the corrosion point, and the first point on the failure curve; determine a third distance from the corrosion point to a second point of the failure curve, in a direction perpendicular to the failure curve; and determine a range of a remaining lifetime of the pipeline based on the first distance, the second distance, and the third distance.
