The present invention comprises: a first imaging step (P2) for rotating multicore fibers (10A, 10B) P° at a time for a number of times rounded up so that N = 360/P is an integer, and capturing a side-view image of the multicore fibers (10A, 10B) both before and after rotation by P°; a first similarity calculation step (P3) for calculating the degree of similarity between the image before rotation and the image after rotation for the multicore fibers (10A, 10B); a first rotation position calculation step (P4) for calculating a specific relative rotation position of the multicore fibers (10A, 10B) at which the correlation between a series of a plurality of similarity degrees of the multicore fiber (10A) and a series of a plurality of similarity degrees of the multicore fiber (10B) is highest; and a first rotation step (P5) for rotating at least one of the multicore fibers (10A, 10B) so that the multicore fiber (10A) and the multicore fiber (10B) are in a specific relative rotation position relationship.
