A Meniscus membrane sealing system includes a needle assembly (11 ) and an implantable, puncture-sealing, closure (1). A needle sheath assembly (14) defines a sheath lumen (55) and has a needle having a hub (13) and shaped to traverse through the sheath lumen (55). The closure (1) has first and second sets (2a), (2b) of expandable/contractable superelastic struts. The struts (2a), (2b), in a steady state, extend within respective parallel strut planes. The first and second struts (2a), (2b) each define a respective center joint (4), (5). A super-elastic plug segment (3) has opposing ends respectively connected to the center joints (4), (5) such that, in an uncompressed steady state, the strut sets (2a), (2b) are substantially parallel to one another.
