A method and system for dosing lubricant in a two stroke diesel engine are disclosed. Its use is also disclosed. The method comprises delivering a lubricant under pressure from a lubricant reservoir through a forced lubrication system to an injector provided in a cylinder wall. A plurality of injectors are used, each injector being suitable for injecting an amount of lubricating oil to be injected into each cylinder. The above method further: - establishing data representing the temperature of the cylinder lining; - establishing data indicative of the lubricant temperature in the lubricant reservoir; - storing temperature data on cylinder linings and lubricants in the computer; - establishing at least one temperature control unit connected with the supplied lubricant and controlled by a computer for setting the temperature control of the lubricant before it is injected into the cylinder; - The computer controls the heating/cooling to affect the viscosity of the lubricant in the temperature control unit so that uniform injection is achieved independently of the temperature of the cylinder lining, and controlling the temperature regulation of the lubricating oil according to the temperature of the cylinder lining and the temperature of the lubricating oil in the lubricating oil reservoir.
