Provided are laser radar (100) and a method for ranging using the laser radar (100). The laser radar (100) comprises: an emission unit (110) comprising a laser array (111) configured to be capable of emitting a plurality of laser beams for detecting a target object (OB); a receiving unit (120) comprising a detector array (121), wherein the detector array (121) is configured to be capable of receiving echoes, which are reflected by the target object (OB), of the plurality of laser beams emitted from the laser array (111) and converting the echoes into electrical signals, the laser array (111) and the detector array (121) form a plurality of detection channels, and each of the detection channels comprises a laser and a detector; and a processing unit (130) coupled to the emission unit (110) and the receiving unit (120) and configured to be capable of reading, in response to a laser beam emitted from the laser of one detection channel, a first electrical signal of the detector of one detection channel and a second electrical signal of the detector of at least another detection channel. By using the laser radar (100), the capability of the laser radar (100) to detect a near target object (OB) can be improved on the premise that the remote detection capability is not affected.
