A photo and video image of the examined line insulator is additionally recorded. The emission of partial discharges of the high-voltage phase of the industrial network, photo and video images of the insulator are recorded using recording sensors installed on the OPL. Periodic measurements of the emission of partial discharges for insulators of the same type according to the voltage class are conducted from the same distance. The emission of partial discharges is recorded from such a distance that primarily the surface of the examined line insulator is located in the aperture of the partial discharge signal recording sensors. The information received by the emission recording sensors, the phase sensor, and the information from the distance sensor and the photo and video recording sensor is transmitted via a radio communication channel to a ground mobile control and data processing unit located at a safe distance from the OPL.;EFFECT: possibility of controlling line insulators of OPLs of any voltage classes, a possibility of controlling line insulators of OPLs in conditions of difficult to access terrain, reduction of the harmful effects of high-intensity electromagnetic fields on the maintenance personnel of the OPLs, the ensured high stability of measuring the characteristics of partial discharges due to the fixed distance of partial discharge emission sensors from the partial discharge source (insulator).;2 cl, 2 dwg
