FIELD: instrument engineering.;SUBSTANCE: invention refers to electric measuring equipment and can be used to inspect electric strength of insulator chains of high-voltage power lines. Essence of invention is that electromagnetic radiation is received in very-high frequency band by using a beam antenna. Digital VHF-receiver with radio signal frequency modulation is used as electromagnetic detector of partial discharge pulses. Signal is supplied to indicator through detector, amplifier and filter. Signal is fed to signal processing device, and portable computer is used as signal processing device. Signal is processed by calculating average number of partial discharge pulses and average amplitude of partial discharge pulses. Then on the indicator there displayed is processed signal data, such as average number and amplitude of partial discharge signals. Failed chain on the support is judged from amplitude which is not more than 0.25 mV for a sound chain from the distance of 10 m of the line with voltage of 0.25 kV, and from the number of pulses of partial discharges on the indicator more than 100 per second.;EFFECT: providing routine remote inspection, improving safety and efficiency, and simplifying measurement design of suspension insulation condition.;1 dwg
