A method for manufacturing a 2D/1D functional substrate (100) comprising the following successive steps: - supplying a stack (110) successively comprising: optionally a support (111), a thin carbon layer (112), a metal catalytic layer (113) and a metal oxide stabilisation layer (114) ranging from 0.5 nm to 4 nm thick, and preferably from 0.5 nm to 3 nm thick; - growing a mat of carbon nanotubes (120) by catalytic chemical vapour deposition from the catalytic layer (113), through openings formed in the stabilisation layer (114), by means of which a forest of carbon nanotubes (120) is formed, a first end of which is fixed to the catalytic layer (113), the catalytic layer (113) being in contact with the thin carbon layer (112).
