As a method for convenient tag creation and satisfactory search of video/image, a method and system for automatically generating tag information for video/image search by analyzing content and meaning of main scenes of video/image are provided. A method for automatically generating a tag for a search according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a first generating step of detecting an object in input scenes to generate object information; a second generation step of generating scene attribute information of input scenes; a third generation step of fusing object information and scene attribute information to generate object-oriented description information; and a tag generation step of generating a search tag by integrating the object information generated in the first generation step and the object-oriented description information generated in the third generation step. Thereby, it is possible to automatically generate tag information for video/image search by analyzing the content and meaning of a main scene of a video/image, thereby automating tag generation of a video/image that relied on manual work.
