The present invention relates to a method of generating a descriptor of an image object in an image processing apparatus, comprising: A step of dividing one frame into blocks of a hierarchical structure; B step of generating an orientation histogram for the pixels of the block; and converting the histogram to represent the feature of the pixel as an 8-bit vector.
