Provided herein are agents such as antibodies or chimeric antigen receptors that target homotrimeric type I collagen. A method of treating cancer and fibroma comprising administering to a patient in need thereof an effective amount of a homotrimeric type I collagen-neutralizing agent is provided. The method may further comprise administering to the patient an effective amount of chemotherapy or immunotherapy.
