The present invention relates to a nanocellulose manufacturing method and a silica airgel composite material containing nanocellulose fibers. The nanocellulose manufacturing method of the present invention can prevent the formation of short fibers by minimizing the cost of the nanocellulose and the damage to the fibers themselves, and thus has the effect of providing high quality of the nanocellulose. In addition, the nanofiber-reinforced silica airgel composite material according to the present invention exhibits excellent thermal insulation properties as most of the total volume is composed of silica airgel, and the nanocellulose fibers capable of self-assembly by hydrogen bonding act as a binder and a reinforcing agent, providing excellent thermal insulation properties, density and high mechanical properties.
