A method for preparing a monolithic SCR catalyst using a plurality of gas flow paths, comprising: (a) providing a monolithic substrate with a plurality of parallel gas flow paths; and (b) a vanadium oxide precursor. Coating a substrate with a washcoat slurry comprising a compound and titania and optionally a tungsten oxide precursor compound; and (c) drying the coated substrate at a rate of 5 mm / min or less. And a step of drying along a flow direction through the gas flow path, and (d) activating the dried coating substrate by firing.
