The invention relates to a system (1) for route network utilisation in local public transport, comprising multiple transport vehicles (2), which are travelling on multiple routes (T1, T2,..., TJ) of a route network (4). The invention also relates to a method for optimising route network utilisation in local public transport. The route network (4) is formed of multiple nodes (K1, K2,..., KK) and therefore multiple travel sections (7), as well as comprising multiple stops (19), in addition to the multiple nodes (K1, K2,..., KK), which can lie between two consecutive nodes (K1, K2,..., KK). Central control and monitoring software of a computer unit (10), located in an operations control centre, is communicatively and bidirectionally connected at least to a network client (14N) and a ticket client (14T). The available transport vehicles (2 and 2I) in the route network are arranged and coordinated on the travel sections, according to the digitally recorded travel orders, substantially by the computer unit (19) in the operations control centre (12).
