The present invention relates to a novel indirubin-based N-hydroxybenzamide, N-hydroxypropenamide and N-hydroxyheptanamide compound as an HDAC (histone deacetylase) inhibitor, and an anticancer composition comprising the same as an active ingredient will be. More specifically, the compound according to the present invention has strong HDAC inhibitory activity, and thus can be used as a proliferation inhibitor for various cancer cells. Therefore, it is expected that the compound according to the present invention can be developed as an active ingredient of a powerful anticancer agent.
