The invention concerns a vehicle, (100),having a camera mounted on the outside of the vehicle (120),where the camera includes: an optical device mounted on a housing (110) of the camera (120) to capture the vehicle's environment, preferably using a downward or downward facing field of vision (111); where the optics (112) comprise an external surface (112a) and a protective device to reduce pollution and/or environmental influences which may interfere with a field of vision of the optics. The protective device is constructed as a cap (114) from an optically permeable material, which is opened downwards and in an area (114a),which, seen in the forward direction (F) of the vehicle, is in front of the optics (112), which surrounds the exterior facing surface (112a) of the optics (112) and thereby extends further down than the surface (112a).
