The invention concerns a metal powder intended to be used in an additive manufacturing process consisting of steel particles having an average diameter of 5-150 m m and consisting of, in mass%,C: 0,15 -1,0%N: 0,15 -1,0%,Si: 0,1 -2,0%,Mn: 10 -25%,Cr: 5 -21%,Mo: 0,1 -3,0%,We: 5%,Residual iron and unavoidable impurities exist, the metal powder having a flow rate of less than 30 sec/50 g determined in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4490. With an inventive metal powder, reliable high-load components can be produced by additive production. Accordingly, an inventive metal powder is particularly suitable for the manufacture of machine elements subject to high loads and of medical components used in or on the human or animal body. The invention also provides a method that reliably allows:to manufacture components with optimised mechanical properties on the basis of an additive manufacturing process.
