A seat 10 with shock absorbers 16, that may be formed of a resilient material such as a thermoplastic polyurethane polymer, that contact each other when they are resiliently deformed by an applied force. The shock absorbers 16 may have additional features, such as integrally-formed upper and lower platforms; a central spring; and an internal bump stop. The design of the shock absorber 16 may depend on its position within the seat. In embodiments, the seat 10 comprises a foam block 12 with a recess 14 in which are located the shock absorbers 16; and the seat 10 rests on a plywood block 18, with the whole assembly being covered in a cloth cover.
