The invention concerns a device (12) for in-ovo sex determination in a fertilised birdcage (10), with:a light source (14) for the emission of an inducement beam for fluorescence stimulation in an area (16) inside the bird enclosure (10),a spectroscopic device (18) for the time and/or spectral resolution analysis of fluorescent radiation emitted from the field (16) inside the bird enclosure (10),-an evaluation unit (20) for sex determination from the data obtained by the spectroscopic device (18); andA measuring head (22) for the common sending of the stimulus radiation into the birdhouse (10) and receiving the fluorescence radiation from the birdhouse (10) through a single hole (24) in the ice bowl (26) of the birdhouse (10). The head of measurement (22) shall have a light-guide system (28) with a head-end (30) for transmitting the stimulation radiation and receiving that of fluorescent radiation.The invention continues to concern a corresponding head of measurement (22) and a corresponding method of in-ovo sex determination in a fertilised bird egg (10).
