A wireless powered device that avoids transmission collisions is presented. The device includes a rectifier circuit coupled to the coil; a transmit driver coupled to the rectifier circuit; a transmission detection circuit configured to detect reception of wireless power transmitted at the coil; and a controller coupled to the transmit driver and the transmit detection circuit, the controller receiving the signal from the transmit detecting circuit and providing an alert of the presence of the transmitted wireless power, the controller transmitting the wireless power in the absence of the signal to activate the transmit driver. The wireless device may determine the mode of operation and may determine the presence of received power in the transmit mode. An alarm may be provided and an off state may be initiated when received power is detected. If no transmit power is detected, the transmit driver may be activated.
