The present disclosure provides a character restoration method and apparatus, a storage medium, and an electronic device. The character restoration method comprises: determining a character identifier of a character in a text region, the character identifier being used for uniquely identifying the character; and performing encoding at least according to the character identifier, sending the encoded data to a receiving end, the encoded data being used for decoding the encoded data by the receiving end, and restoring the character according to the character identifier obtained after performing decoding, i. e. performing encoding merely according to a small amount of information, and then obtaining the information by performing decoding, so as to restore the character.
