PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide identification and use of small molecules for inducing pluripotency in mammalian cells as well as methods for inducing pluripotency.SOLUTION: The method comprises the steps of: (a) introducing into a non-pluripotent mammalian cell: i) one or more expression cassettes comprising a polynucleotide encoding Oct polypeptide, a polynucleotide encoding Klf polypeptide and a polynucleotide encoding Sox polypeptide or ii) exogenous Oct polypeptide, exogenous Sox polypeptide and exogenous Klf polypeptide; and (b) contacting the non-pluripotent mammalian cell with GSK3 inhibitor, MEK inhibitor and TGFβ receptor/ALK5 inhibitor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
