A method for the real-time, automatic and dynamic creation and updating of a reference database of occupied or available parking spaces, based on an independent device to be retrofitted in a vehicle, or in the driver's smartphone, or else integrated in the vehicle at the manufacturing stage, using algorithms that are integrated therein and/or in a central system to analyse information from its GPS positioning sensors and other spatial position and motion detection sensors, independently of the surroundings outside the vehicle, thus determining the manoeuvres performed in order to enter or leave a parking space. The real-time and historical data are used to guide drivers and are supplied to third-party navigation applications or other applications.
