a device for collecting group runtime information on the frequency of a transmission medium (100),includes: a receiver (110) to receive a measuring signal to provide a receiving signal, the measuring signal having at least one first carrier signal (211) at a first carrier frequency, a second carrier signal (212) at a second carrier frequency and a third carrier signal (213) at a third carrier frequency, where transmission phase information on the carrier signals is known or traceable; a frequency analyser (120) to analyse the receiving signal to receive phase information about the first carrier signal (211),receive the second carrier signal (212) and the third carrier signal (213); and a processor (130) to form (310) a first combined phase information from the receiving phase information of a first pair of carrier signals and to form a second combined phase information from the receiving phase information of a second pair of carrier signals, where the second pair of carrier signals is different from the first pair of carrier signals,on the formation (320) of a first group runtime information from the first combined phase information and the transmitting phase information concerning the first pair of carrier signals and on the formation of a second group runtime information from the second combined phase information and the transmitting phase information concerning the second pair of carrier signals, and to assign (330) the first group runtime information to a first frequency and the second group runtime information to a second frequency, the first frequency being derived from frequencies of the first pair of carrier signals,and where the second frequency is derived from frequencies of the second pair of carrier signals.
