A system and method for focused ultrasound extraction is described. In one example, the system includes a tank for the conduction of acoustic waves, a transducer array positioned within the tank, a sample holder positioned within the tank, and a computing device configured to control a parameter of the convergent acoustic waves generated by the transducer array for ablation of the target sample. The transducer array can be configured to generate convergent acoustic waves at a point of convergence.
