The invention concerns a sewing machine, which has the following characteristics:on which a suture can be arranged; a compressor foot (2),who is trained to hold the suture; and a push-up bar (3),where the compressor base (2) is fitted, the sewing machine also has a distance element (5), the distance element (5) being so designed and arranged that the distance element (5) indicates a minimum level (h) between the insert plate (1) and the compressor base (2). Furthermore, the invention concerns the use of a gap element (5) in a sewing machine to specify a minimum level (h) between a socket plate (1) of the sewing machine and a fabric pressure foot (2) of the sewing machine.
