An optical vital sign sensor is provided. The optical vital signs sensor is configured to measure or determine a user's vital signs. The optical vital sign sensor has a contact surface 101 and at least one light source 110 configured to generate light. The light is directed at the user's skin 1000. Further, the at least one photodetector unit 120 is configured to detect light indicative of the reflection of the light beam from the at least one light source 110 within or from the user's skin 1000. A color conversion plate 200 that converts the color of light from the light source is provided between the light source and the contact surface.
