An esophageal stent may include a tubular body having a first end (102, 202, 302)and a second end (104, 204, 304). In the deployed configuration: the tubular body defines a first flange portion (110, 210, 310), a second flange portion(120, 220, 320), and a saddle portion (130, 230, 330) extending from the first flange portion to the second flange portion; the tubular body further defining an overall longitudinal length; the first flange portion has a first outer radial extent (112, 212, 312), and the second flange portion has a second outer radial extent (122, 222, 322); the first outer radial extent and the second outer radial extent are greater than an outer radial extent of the saddle portion (132, 232, 323); and a longitudinal length(338) of the saddle portion is at least 50% of the overall longitudinal length (308).
