The present invention relates to the field of low allergic oligosaccharides for use in nutritional compositions, in particular to oligosaccharides having prebiotic properties. There is provided a low allergic oligosaccharide composition comprising galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS), wherein (i) the galacto-oligosaccharide (GOS) content is at least 40% by weight of the total dry matter of the composition; (ii) the allolactose content is at least 10% by weight of the total dry matter of the composition; (iii) the 6'-GL content is at least 30% by weight of the total GOS in the composition; (iv) At least 0.5% by weight of the total GOS has a degree of polymerization (DP) of 6 or more. The GOS composition does not trigger GOS-allergies as evaluated in the basophil activation test (BAT).
