The present invention provides materials and methods for the reduction of harmful atmospheric gases, such as greenhouse gases. In certain embodiments, the reduction of harmful atmospheric gases is achieved through improved plant growth carbon utilization and storage, as well as increased carbon sequestration in the soil. In some embodiments, the present invention may be used to reduce the number of carbon credits used by workers in e.g., agriculture, livestock production, waste management or other industries. In certain embodiments, the present invention provides customizable microbial-based products as well as methods of using these microbial-based products to reduce greenhouse gases and/or improve carbon sequestration.
