An automatic walking area route planning method and an automatic walking device. The automatic walking area is defined by an area boundary. The method comprises: obtaining visual reference data of a visual sensor when establishing a map (step S110); determining a virtual boundary line in the area boundary according to the visual reference data, the virtual boundary line dividing an automatic walking area to be a valid positioning area and an invalid positioning area, and the area between the virtual boundary line and the area boundary being the valid positioning area (step S120); and respectively planning a walking route of the automatic walking device in different modes in the valid positioning area and the invalid positioning area (step S130). By using the automatic walking area route planning method and the automatic walking device, walking errors are reduced under different visual positioning precision conditions, and the working efficiency is improved.
