The present invention relates to a method for controlling a submodule current and voltage for testing a submodule of a modular multilevel converter, the method for controlling a submodule current and voltage being characterized by comprising: a current offset generation step of generating a current offset included in a current supplied to a submodule; a second harmonic generation step of generating a second harmonic current included in the current supplied to the submodule; and a current control signal formation step for controlling a dark current (IL) which is to be supplied to the submodule by using a dark current (IL) which has received feedback from the submodule, the current offset, and the second harmonic current.
