PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel pharmaceutical agent that acts to inhibit glucagon.SOLUTION: The inventors discovered that after leptin receptor deficient model mice were given free access to feed containing arctigenin for 9 weeks, the blood glucagon concentration measured in the mice was lower in comparison to the blood glucagon concentration of a control group. Furthermore, it was discovered that in the mice administered with arctigenin, the expression level of downstream genes promoted by glucagon including FOXO1, PGC1α, PEPCK, AND G6Pase was also lower than a control group.
