The present invention provides a peptide derived from Choanephora cucurbitarum as a serine-based protease inhibitor, suggesting that protease inhibitory peptides found only in bacteria can be identified in fungi. In addition, the present invention provides a variant of the peptide that has improved the protease inhibitory activity, and the peptide derived from Coanepora cucurbitarum and its variant exhibits an antimicrobial effect with a serine-based protease inhibitory activity. It can be applied as an antimicrobial agent, and can be used as a template or lead compounds for the development and design of protease inhibitors, or for stabilizing commercial products such as laundry detergents.
