PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical battery can which is hardly deformed in spite of its thinness.SOLUTION: A cylindrical battery can 2 is made of a bottomed cylindrical steel sheet having an opening 23 on one end in the vertical direction, when the direction of a cylindrical axis 100 is defined as the vertical direction. The cylindrical battery can has an inner face and an outer face which are plated with a first material. On at least one of the inner face and the outer face, the cylindrical battery can has a plurality of belt-like hard plated parts 30 which are plated with a second material that is harder than the first material. The plurality of hard plated parts are formed in a stripe shape so that they are parallel to one another. Each of the hard plated parts extends in one vertical direction from the opening toward a bottom part 21 so as to reach the bottom part.
