To provide an ammonia-containing wastewater treating device which, even when various conditions change during operation, can satisfy an emission standard of the ammonia concentration of the treated wastewater, avoid the ammonia concentration in combustion gas of the top part of a tower from explosion, and sufficiently, economically and efficiently oxidizes and decomposes ammonia gas without exceeding the decomposition treating capacity of a catalyst combustion device, and an ammonia-containing wastewater treating method using the treating device.SOLUTION: An ammonia-containing wastewater treating device 1 has functions of: 1) adjusting an amount of burnt gas refluxing to the tower bottom 2-2 of a diffusion tower 2 and controlling the temperature of the treated wastewater flowing down to the tower bottom 2-2 at a set temperature; 2) adjusting the temperature of the combustion gas supplied to a catalyst combustion device 7 at a proper temperature by installing a preheater 5 preheating the combustion gas by heat exchanging and a heater 6 heating the combustion gas independently from the catalyst combustion device 7; and 3) having, upstream from the preheater 5 and the heater 6, a draining device 3 separating and removing water droplets and condensate entrained in the combustion gas.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
