A method for comprehensively treating a laterite nickel ore by using a nitric acid medium, comprising: crushing and finely grinding the crude ore of the laterite nickel ore to obtain ore powder; adding a nitric acid solution as a leaching agent to the ore powder, performing selective leaching, and performing liquid-solid separation to obtain leaching residues and a leachate; adding the obtained leachate to a calcining furnace for calcination and decomposition so as to obtain a mixed dry basis metal oxide, and producing a nitrogen oxide gas NOx during calcination; performing a pelletizing process and a sintering process on the obtained leaching residues to generate an iron ore concentrate; and absorbing the nitrogen oxide NOx, preparing concentrated nitric acid, preparing the nitric acid solution, and returning the nitric acid solution as the leaching agent. The method can achieve the effective separation of iron from nickel-cobalt, reduces the content of metals, such as aluminum and magnesium, in a nickel-cobalt product, reduces the use of a neutralizing agent, achieves the renewable use of a nitric acid, and greatly improves the comprehensive utilization efficiency and the economic value of the laterite nickel ore.
