A false window unit (2) comprises a window frame (28) that is positioned in a wall section (20) and that has an opening section (38), an image display device (8) that is positioned facing the opening section (38) of the window frame (28) and that displays a background image toward an indoor space (16) through the opening section (38) of the window frame (28), a light source (36) that is positioned between the window frame (28) and the image display device (8) and that radiates light resembling sunshine toward the indoor space (16) through the opening section (38) of the window frame (28), and a sash frame (30) that screens some of the light from the light source (36).
