The methods and devices used to estimate blood flow in an intravascular blood pump include the step of extracting reference data from a set of reference data acquired in a test environment. The set of reference data passes through the reference motor current (I) of the motor driving the blood pump and the blood pump for at least one motor speed under different pump loads including the first pump load. Contains both the amount of blood flow to the pump. After installing the blood pump in the patient's body, the motor current deviation value (ΔI) is calculated from the reference motor current and the patient-specific motor current under the first pump load. Finally, the motor current deviation value ΔI is used to estimate the patient-specific blood flow (FL) volume passing through the blood pump.
