PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic fruit/vegetable sorting method capable of efficiently sorting a lot of fruit/vegetables and an automatic fruit/vegetable sorting device capable of being installed with one or more other automatic fruit/vegetable sorting devices within a narrow space.SOLUTION: An automatic fruit/vegetable sorting method comprises: moving fruit/vegetable conveyors provided at two or more vertically apart stages, and conveying, at each one of stages, fruit/vegetable carriers each one of which receives and conveys one fruit/vegetable; measuring and classifying the fruit/vegetable on the fruit/vegetable conveyor at each one of stages during conveyance; and discharging the classified fruit/vegetable from the fruit/vegetable carrier on the fruit/vegetable conveyor at each stage, to a pool conveyor at a stage of the same height as that of the fruit/vegetable conveyor. An automatic fruit/vegetable sorting device comprises the fruit/vegetable conveyors each attached with many fruit/vegetable carriers onto an endless travelling body, and the pool conveyors, both of which are arranged at two or more stages vertically spaced apart. The pool conveyor at the upper stage may have a lateral width narrower than that of pool conveyor at the lower stage; or the pool conveyor at the upper stage may be arranged while being shifted to one side in a lateral width direction of the pool conveyor at the lower stage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
