The invention relates to a method for controlling a hydraulic unit (1), to a hydraulic unit (1), and to a drivetrain with a hydraulic unit (1) with a rotational-speed-controlled pump (2) which is subject to leakage and which, at an outlet side, provides at least two fluid streams in a manner switched by means of switching valves (10, 23), specifically for the purposes of actuating at least one slave cylinder (6, 8) and for a further volume flow which is controlled on the basis of a rotational speed of the pump (2). In order to be able to set the volume flow exactly, an efficiency of the pump (2) is calculated on the basis of a comparison of a known slave cylinder volume of the at least one slave cylinder (8) and an ascertained fluid flow rate of the pump (2) for the filling of the at least one slave cylinder (8).
