A device for driving a safety-relevant electronic system, in particular of a vehicle, comprises a power supply unit (10) having at least one voltage regulator (11, 12), wherein the power supply unit (10), during operation, is supplied with a battery voltage (Vbatt) at a first supply potential input connection (14) and provides a first supply voltage (Vss), smaller than the battery voltage (Vbatt), at a first supply potential output connection (15). The first supply voltage (Vss) is supplied, at a second supply potential input connection (21), to a microcontroller (20) for generating a first drive signal (Ctrl) that is provided at a first control output (22) of the microcontroller (20) in order to be processed by a control unit (40). The first supply voltage (Vss) is supplied, at a third supply potential input connection (31), to a monitoring unit (30) for generating a second drive signal (dabl) that is provided at a second control output (32) of the monitoring unit (30) in order to be processed by the control unit (40). The third supply potential input connection (31), the second control output (32) and the second data port (35) of the monitoring unit (30) are designed to be voltage-proof with respect to the battery voltage (Vbatt).
