The approach presented here relates to a method for unlocking an appliance door (110) for a laundry care appliance (100). The method comprises a step of receiving (205), a step of issuing (210) and a step of sending (215). In the receiving step (205), a topping up signal (155) is received during a washing process, the topping up signal (155) representing a signal provided by an actuating device (160) that can be actuated by an operator of the laundry care device (100). In the step of outputting (210), a change signal (165) is output using the replenishment signal (155), the change signal (165) being designed to change at least one current drum parameter of a drum (115) of the laundry care device (100) cause a drum target parameter if the current drum parameter is greater than the drum target parameter. In the step of sending (215) an unlocking signal (170) is sent which causes the unlocking of the appliance door (110) if the current drum parameter is not greater than the drum target parameter.
